I had an oral surgeon tell me that when I was 13. I finally had to have them out year before last cause they started bothering me. Got one dry socket. Don't even remember being in the recovery bed. I came to in the wheelchair, ready to be taken out. A rotten wisdom tooth makes for funky breath.

Still got mine too, and absolutely LOVE them. Nothing helps me grind thru pieces of well-done steak like the 4 guns in the back of my mouth. Don't know what I'd do without my wisdom teeth...

Had all four of mine removed. Got home, slept a couple of hrs., woke up starvin' ate some soup and never really felt that bad. Ate solid foods the next day, spit blood for about 2 weeks. Not that bad. Some of my friends have horror stories about dry sockets. Guess some come out easier than others.

Had the Air Force remove all four of mine at once. It was great. They gassed me told me to count down from 100. 100....99....98.... Out. I woke up in a wheel chair all groggy, face numb and mouth packed full of gauze. Was only coherent enough to realize that my wife and some guy were helping me into the car. No driving for me for a few days. According to my wife I told that guy that helped me into the car "thankkksss......mannnnn....." sounding like a very stoned hippeee. heheheheeh She bought me an ice cream cone from mcdonalds and i tried to lick it on the way home but my face was so numb and I was so doped up that I couldn't hit my piehole but had icecream all over my face and I was slumped over in the seat. Couldn't sit straight up. Was on some powerful pain killers for 3 or 4 days. Never felt pain and wasn't very hungry. Took a longggggggg time for those holes to fully close up. They really dug into my gums.

Better than washing with salt water is to wash your mouth with water and hydrogen peroxide. It will clean much better, is a disinfectant, and you'll heal much faster. I had mine out a couple of years ago, as well as some major jaw surgery. Hydrogen peroxide works great. Use like half and half.....

The do the following:

--sit below the gum and you never know they are there.

--poke out of the gum, cause discomfort, leads to removal (me, top one, easy removal)

--become infected, causing you years of discomfort, bad breath, illness etc till you get them pulled.

--they impact your other teeth and push them out of alignment. (me, other top one, still there as the damage is done, no point causing trouble at this time)

I'm sure there are other things they can do for you.

they push on your other teeth, pushing them together. i'm told this can cause further tooth decay because your toothbrush doesn't get in there as well
