'99 F250 PSD A/T,, I am on occasions getting a fume of some kind in hte cab. It does nt have a real strong exhaust oder but it burns my nose and gives me a head ache. I have changed both exhaust tubes and the collector between the exhaust manifolds and turbo. Seemed to help some, but still comes and goes. Any other ideas.
Can you be more specific about when you experince this "smell"? Like, are the HVAC controls on, first drive of the day, after driving awhile, windows up or down, only after refuel, etc. etc. ???
Check the clamp around the exhaust side on the turbo, on my 99' PSD it had lossened and some smell was getting into the cab, but mostly you could hear a rattle and more noise. I think I used a 1/4 drive 7/16 deep socket to tighten the clamp. Mine also had 2 - small bolts that kept backing out,,they were laying right there on the turbo mount, some lock-tite fixed that.
Thanks for responding. This odor is more odorless than exhaust. It is apt to happen any time, no paticular reasons. It show up with windows rolled up so I keep a window down some all the time. I do have a CO detector in the cab. It has gone off, mostly with the window rolled up. I do not have a muffler installed so it has a straight shot out. I have changed both exhaust tubes from the manifold to the 'Y' collector and the 'Y' collector. It might of helped, but. Also replaced the clamps and donut seals. The fumes burn my nose and gives me headaches. Truck has 400,000 miles, runs daily.
