What could cause a very rough shifting auto transmission in a 94 F-150 5L 4wd (112k mi)? It shifts great in moderate acceleration, but if you are travelling 74-5 mph and it decides to shift it revs up and tries to throw it in gear unsuccessfully. It will also do the same about 28-30 mph. What could be the cause and how much does it cost?
Any thoughts are welcome, I'm lost when it comes to auto trannies.
Thanks and God bless!
Mick
edit: Now that I have looked at some other posts, it might not be the tranny, it could be an engine problem. What do you think?
I have not been able to reproduce the hard shift until it gets warmed up, e.g. 10-15 minutes at highway speed. Could this be evidence that the tranny fluid needs changes? If not what else?
