Too Many Wasps

Woke up this morning to find 200 wasps eating the cats food. Its been a bad year for the little buggers. We have a big nest in our arbutus tree 300 feet from the house . Thinking of blowing it to bits with the 12 gauge, but dont want them too move to worse place like our house.ANY IDEA WHAT TO DO?

(1) wait until night.

(2) spray with a long range wasp spray.

(3) run if necessary.

i had the same problem last year. i was in the yard and found a nest, so i went to the garage and got a can of that wasp killer (we have alot of those little buggers here so i always have a few cans on hand) and killed the nest. i looked around the rest of the yard and the house and found 7 more nests! i went around killing all of them. this spring i stocked up on the wasp killer but to my suprise i have not had a single nest all year(so far at least) so kill them all and maybe they wount come back.

get three or four big bug zappers, put them under the tree, then put some cat food under those.

Use Advance Auto Brake Cleaner! It is the best Wasp/bee spray I have found. They don't fly very far if at all. It is cheaper than other bug sprays and they don't come back for more!

you want mean and nasty punishment?? well go grab a can of 3M Adhesive spray for headliners.....well it sprays out glue in mist form.....now this glue almost instantly glues their wings together......they fall from the sky and begin to crawl in the dirt where they pick up more debris slowing them down tremendously.....now the ants scout finds them and one by one they are brutally attacked and stung to death while being torn apart 1/2 alive...thats painful, and cruel

I was outside and i kicked some pile of wood and all of sudden im being chased by wasps! It was some red wasps too(i think those hurt more). I've never gotten stung by them, so i dont know how bad it hurts. Fireants is what we have too much of. I hate them, specially when you stand on one of their anthills w/out knowing. Ouch.

PLEASE read this. This is not funny and you MUST take this seriously. Wasps are not to be taken lightly. They can kill you. I know on a first hand basis as my dad was killed by one wasp sting to the neck. The man choked to death in front of me and I was totally helpless to do anything. NO, he wasn't allergic as such as he was stung by the same nest the weekend before as I was putting the tractor in the shed and it didn't even swell. I would suggest to all, keep Benedryl around the house if you have any bees or wasps. You have 3 minutes to get it into the victim or they can die. We had the University of Texas come out to the house afterwards and study the wasps and the death. It wasn't fun talking about watching your dad die when you are a kid. To kill these critters is real simple- spray the nest with soapy water. Their wings have a thin coat of wax that the soap will dissolve almost instantly. Now they can't fly, the additional spray of soapy water gets into their lungs and they suffocate. Sorry for the rant- just don't want to see or hear of someone else dying that way.
