Can I make the switch?

My X is due for an oil change and I'm thinking about running synthetic instead of the normal stuff. The X has about 88,700 miles on it. Would switching to synthetic now cause a problem?

Let me rephrase my question, from what I vaguely understand, switching this high up in mileage may or may not potentially cause problems. I'm not sure whether this is unfounded or not; but I just want to know before I go in and have some synthetic put in. Thanks.

I've switched back and forth a half dozen times in 102000 miles. Stick to the dino stuff now because I never realized any benefits that offset the cost of the synthetic.

I switched from dino to synthetic at 94,xxx and at 111,xxx I still don't use any measureable amount of oil on 5,000 filter changes and 10,000 full changes. I did notice a measurable increase in fuel economy at the initial change. Unexpected but nice none the less.
