a coupe of months ago i told y'all about my back and that i ruptured two disk but this last week i cant take any pain killers only cause i go into surgery tommarro(spelling?) kinda nervis about it. aint never had surgery before.
but i do get to be on dissabilaty and collect 80% of my pay and dont have to go to work
The best advice I can give (2 Lower Back Surgeries) is do all of the rehab excercises that you are told to do!!!
I quit the Oxycontin pain killer route about a month and a half ago. Doing nothing but excercises now. Still have good and bad days, no more excruciating days!
Good luck,we will be rooting for ya.Nice to see you can still joke around,I know you have got to be in some serious pain.Let us know how things turn out.
Hang in there 4wheelin. Ruptured a disc and had surgery 35 years ago. Before surgery the pain was unbearable. What a difference after. I do get some pain from time to time but no more than would be from a bruise. Since the surgery, I've raced cars and ridden horses and all the other good stuff. Do the therapy and pamper your back till it heals. After that just treat it with respect - no 300lb bench presses. Remember that Joe Montana had back surgery and came back better than ever. Take care and good luck.
Good luck, man. I've had three back surgeries since 1998 but the I am mostly pain free right now. I do have days where I need some chemical help but they aren't very often. I just take a couple of Tramadal (generic name is Ultram) and all is good again.
just to let y'all know the back surgery is all done and i feel alot better. I am still in pain but not near as much as i was in before the surgery. I should have done this when it first happend instead of waiting, the doctor said my back had gotten worse after the MRI was taken
Ahh yes, post surgery, and the associatd "surgical pain". Just watch yourself with the pain killers. Percocet has a tendency to, how can I put this..... bind your digestive tract up. Not a good time to be straining, if you know what I mean.
Glad to hear you are doing better. Just relax for a few more and start rehabbing. You'll be back to almost normal in no time!!
Oh yeah, you are now going to be able to tell when the weather fronts are coming thru, about 8 to 12 hours in advance. Nice perk no one told you about!!
I've had back trouble ever since i was young, due to being stupid and weight lifting wrong and too heavy!!But what really did my back in was i was helping a friend move, and he had a 55gal oil drum going up some steps, and guess what idiot was under it!! Well the chain broke and down it came on top of me,i held it back but something went in my back, that was 4yrs ago and since that i have gained weight, and now the doctors around here will not help! Sorry they say nothing we can do!! I spend most of my life on the floor,i only wish is to just be able to stand or sit for 5mins.!! So far they have found that i have 2 herniated disks, fractured spine,Sciatica down both legs not just the usual one,the one doctor said he has no idea how i'm even walking!!!Usually when i go to the doctor i have to lay outside on the sidewalk and they call me in!So in a nut shell yes i know what you are going through, hope everything works out for ya!!
I had fusion surgery a year and a half ago, and still not back to how I was before the failure, but way better than I was for the month before the surgery. I went 15 years with some pain, but was manageable, so no insurance would pay for an MRI until total failure, so here I am, permanent nerve damage from all the years of beating on the nerves. I lost my medical insurance a month after the surgery, so I couldn't afford proper physical therapy, so my recovery is way slower as a result. Since I couldn't return to my job with no restrictions within 6 months, I no longer have a job. You are lucky in that you get that much pay, I got 200 a week for the six months. Doesn't take long for the finances to get away from you at that point, so good luck, and godspeed on your recovery!!! Even though the rehab hurts, DO NOT let it stop you, it will get better!! The first steps were my worst, and it only got easier from there. BTW, my last 3 lumbar vetebrae are the ones fused.
I would be nervous too. I hope to God that you had 2nd and third opinions about your medical situation. Back surgery is a serious operation and should be the absolute last resort, only after all other possible remedies have been tried. I hope you get better and do not have to be on disability.
Try to manage stress and anxiety when you are healing, and forever after. My back, with two ruptured but healed discs flares up when I have been overstressed mentally. It happens every time. The body reacts to stress in strange ways my friends, keep a good eye on your emotional health, it really is very important.
