Well, I got the famous rusted oil pan on my 92 F150 Supercab. So...should I take it to the Ford dealer to have it replaced, or to a local shop? (Not much of a mechanic, so I wouldn't even think of tryiing it myself). And while they're in there replacing the pan, anything else I should have them replace, since lifting the motor and all the labor involved will probably be the biggest expense?
Just obviously the gasket. I did mine a few years back. I have a 4.9l six. It was quite a job! Took me all day. But, she's still leak free at 149,000 miles!
pump, screen, and gaskets. don't buy a performance pump. usually at the auto store they offer an oe pump or a nicer one. go with the oe
Yep, I've heard if you put in a high volume oil pump you run the risk of oil getting between your bearings and seats and the bearings could spin. Especially if they're worn. I think they call it washing out your bearings.
It will also exaserbate some other leaks you may already have.
