i hope i am posting in the right place, can anyone tell me how to remove the dash from my 82 f-100 ? winter is coming soon and my vents won't blow out much air so i want to take it apart and clean out the vent system. thanks
I've never taken out the WHOLE dash. You can take out the upper pad, just look for screws, under the leading edge, by the windshield (don't drop em down the defrost vents. Is the heat/air, defrost/dash/floor working properly? If not, it's usually a door screwed up (vacuum operated).
There are four screws along th top of the dash under the windshield, three above the guage cluster, two above the radio, and then either three or four above the glove box area. Possibly your problem lies in your damper in the duct box. This is vacuum operated and is in the duct behind your glovebox and kind of underneath it. When youmove the selector levers around on your heat/AC control you should hear it moving. It can be a real pain in the butt to get to but iouwld check this and I think you can do it all without removing the dash. To clean the ducts you could take them out or take your fan motor out and blow air through the ducts to the motor and suck it out with a shopvac.
My vents didn't blow out any air, so I recently removed the blower motor from the engine compartment and cleaned out the tons of leaves from in there. That solved the problem.
