One of my family members has a 1976 Ford F150 with a 300 six-cylinder and the last few days it has been really getting over-heated. And we have done everything that we have thought of to get the tempture back down to normal. We have put in a brand-new thermastate, added more coolant. And we were wondering if the exhaust system is shot would that make the truck over-heat? If you have any tips please let me know it would really be appreciated.
Check your timing, too much advance will cause it to overheat. Occasionally the small pieces that control the vacuum advance in the distributor will become corroded and lodged.
