Howdy everyone
All the time now, at a certain rpm I start to hear a hiss. It grows louder (like more air or fluid is going through) as the rpms go up. I was wondering if anyone had a clue as to what this could be. I'm going to get someone to help me later and I'll see if I can tell what area it is coming from.
it is getting more air thru it at higher r p ms, that is what it is supposed to do. it sounds like you may have an aircleaner that is not seated properly, or one that has no filter installed. either of those will make the normal carb sound louder.
I used to run an open paper air filter on my 390. The hissing got a little quieter with a K&N, but I didnt like to listen to it. This was with both the 350 cfm and the 500 cfm 2bbl. I now have a Holley 4bbl and the Ram Air setup. Mo' power, quiet, and looks killer.
Welldiver, I do have pix, but dont remember the company name. I will find it, I remember they are located in Ontario, Canada. If you look in the ads in some of the HotRod, and performance mags, you will see their ad. I'm not sure how to get the pix to you, I have them on the 'puter.
