I have a 93 Explorer 4 WD, XLT. It has about 130000 miles.
Yesterday I took the car out and drove it for a while, stoping and starting as usual. I left it standing for about 2 hours and then it would not start when i came back to it. There seems to be juice in the battery, but I have not tested it yet. However, when trying to start, all I hear is a solenoid clicking. It is mounted on the side of the engine bay near the battery.
The starter is not turning over.
There is some corrosion around the battery terminals, but since there has never been a problem before, even in winter, I do not think that this is the problem.
It does sound like your battery. You should try cleaning that corrosion first. If that does not work then try replacing the battery. Check the battery cables while you are at it.

I have one just like Mike's. I have cleaned the corrosion...no help..replaced the battery....no help...went a step further and replaced the starter....no help. just a loud click out of the solinoid...You think it might be the starter solinoid?
any one else out there with the same problem?
