Bad Heater Core

I have a 1997 F150 EXTCAB 4X4, the heater core has gone bad.I don't have the time to pull the dash and replace it right now and really don't want to pay someone big bucks to do it, so I connected the hoses that go to the heater core together.Could this damage anything. Please advise, thanks.

Won't damage anything. Just don't forget about it and start cussing when you need heat and don't get any.

You can say that again. Just replaced the heater core on my 98 F150...looked like I got the truck out of a junkyard for the week it took me to get that thing taken care of. Ticked me off so much I decided to sell the truck and buy a 69 F250. Im sure the new owner would love to know that I had 68 screws and three random metal pieces left over when I was done. You would be better off putting a space heater in your truck than doing this job yourself.
