Monsta is always like that he's harmless ! But me I'm irritating !
A fickle sensor is one that can't decide what signal it wants to send.
Older Ford diesels had a FIPL sensor. That stands for Fuel Injection Pump Lever. The PCM used that signal to tell how far the driver was pushing on the go pedal.
Ok, My 250 was idleing when a puff of black smoke came out of the tailpipe. Truck started running rough. Got it home and parked it for about 6 Hours. When I went to move it she would not move. Started but knocked like you wouldn't believe. Called Ford and they came and towed it. Shop manger called and stated that my Fickle sensor had gone up and that thefickle sensor was responsible for sending messsages to the injectors. Also stated that I was only running on three. When they put it on the computer it told them that three injectors were bad and needed to be replaced but because of all three having the same code they call the Ford tech line and they told them to replace the fickle sensor. So I take it theres no such thing as the fickle sensor?

If it's a diesel engine, maybe he meant Fuel Injection Control Module (FICM)? I used to own a 1985 female red tabby cat that had a fickle sensor. I know she was a diesel because of the noise she always made when I petted her. (probably an early IDI engine, very noisy.) The sensor was faulty and she use to only be able (or want) to eat the "SHEBA" brand canned cat-food. The manufacturer was no help in getting a replacement. They kept saying "meow" or something to that effect. I never got that fixed.
Well I talk to a desiel mechanic about my fickle sensor. Come to find out there is such a thing its the fuel injector control modular, Its former name was the injector driver modular. He told me where to look under the hood and sure enough there it was. Thanks n578Md

so i guess thats what they were replacing, and the guy was either yanking your crank or using their slang term for the part? it sure sounds like it was acting fickle anywho. the computer in my old bronco was like that every time i submerged it in water for some reason
