General tranny question....
I purchased a '91 3.0 several months ago to build up and restore with parts from my '90 Eddie Bauer.
The '91 has real poor accelaration at the low end. Could a bad vacuum modulator be causing this? Also, what exactly does the modulator do?

The vacuum modulator measures engine load and controls upshifting. When the modulator goes bad, the transmission will typically shift at high RPM's. To see if it is bad, pull the hose off and see if there is any trans fluid in it. Presence of fluid means it's bad. Easy to change, and runs about $20.
