I have come across a problem. I am retarded when it comes to vacuum on a tranny. My problem is that the modulator is not getting any at all. I have traced the lines to the firewall and then to the canister, well one of them, the other two, one of which goes to the modulator on the tranny, and the other is just hanging there. I was under the impression that it went to the manifold. I have looked and stared in stupidity until I give up. Can anyone lead me to the proper place for the vacuum to come from or where it goes. thank you. I expect there will be millions of questions before I get an answer so let them rip.
the trans vacuum should lead straight from the manifold to the modulator valve, usually by steel line. I f the one just hanging there is open, it is creating a leak. I'm sure it goes somewhere, but at this moment can't say where, as I don't know your setup. Pics would be great if you could.
The truck is a 1986 f-150 with what i expect is a c-6 or 7 since it is four wheel. The motor is a 351 winsor. Anyone wanna buy it lol. Part of the line is steel but about 2 feet of it are rubber. A foot on each end. Where on the manifold should the line go to? Would it be a fitting or just slide on tip? Since it is supposed to be a steel line. thanks for the quick reply

Reason: not enough info
Well, apparently someone has patched it up, as it shoiuld have been steel from source to modulator, with rubber line to seal. The source is the nipple on the manifold runner behind the carb. or if injected, it would be wherever it has vacuum direct from the manifold, not around the throttle body. Sounds like someone redid your truck to their liking, and did a poor job of it. It would be a C6, never was a 7, just so you know, 4x designation doesn't matter. The steel line is not bolted up to the source, it is held by the rubber lines. You can use what you have, it will work, just have more rubber to watch. The fitting that usually got used on the carb versions was pass rear of the manifold, typically it points straight up, but not always. Comes right off the intake runner, separate from the carb, maybe 2-3 inches away
Well you were almost right but the truck is not right either. You are correct in your assumption of the truck being rigged to someones liking. The fitting was in the rear of manifold and was sticking straight up "but" there were already two hoses attached to it, I figure that one was corrected but tracted the other to a fitting that attached to four other hoses. Anyway I attached the rubber hose to the fitting that had nothing on it and badabang badabom we have corrected shifting of tranny. lol... thank you guys so much for the help and if I can help anyone else I will try too...
yeah, I got a look at a windsor tonight, it was a little off from my description, but at least you got the idea and got it working again, that's all that matters.
