psyche : Never had any love for any dictators including some of our own but we
do still buy their sugar and cigars and do the odd winter holiday there for those
10 and 12 lb bass they have there . Great weather and cheap cheap cheap .
One can spend the winter there for less than it costs to heat the house in Can.
If you want cigars on the cheap, good cigars even, check out bestcigarprices. they sell everything, for much less than thompsons and cigars international. that's where ive been getting mine for the last 3 years. Montecristo #2 is my favorite smoke, and Thompsons sells them for 300, while the site above is 180. Hoyo de Monterrey are good, esp. the Excalibur line, so are Punch. Acids are good for every now and then, but probably aren't something all cigar smokers like. More like a flavored, but it's in the way they cure the filler leaves.
Even though they are contraband below the 49th because of the Cuban trade embargo there are so many knock offs that have flooded the market since the embargo was put in place that one can carry a reasonable number of them back and forth without being bothered . They can even use the same names as the real McCoy when shipping them to the US from points of legal trade .
If one is not wearing a turban or loaded with electronic gear or whatever the crossing boys have enough to worry about without trying to decide whether
your cigars are real Cubans or counterfits . They may be suspicious of a crate
in the trunk though .
I take some back and forth on vacation when the snow flies here and the only time I was ever asked about them was when I donated one for his approval
to see if he could tell the difference .
I'm sure he could but was probably in Georgia before he had finished it .
