I tried some small ones from Brazil and Africa, they were half decent (for the minis),sorry don't have the name with me but if you wan,t I can get to you in a few days.
Now, for the real mcoy (regular size): La Groria Cubana, Fuenta, CAO anniversery, and of course from the land that can't be spoken
I heard the Partagas are real good-at $30 a pop
I tried Swishers and they are a fine smoke. I however suplement my nasty smoking habit by smoking Winchester little cigars they are cheap. They have more of a wallopp than a Swisher and after you smoke a couple you kind of don't want to smoke for a while.
The local shop has a decent selection. I tried "Helix" cigars a while back, they were pretty good. I got a Royal Coronation too, it was nasty, never again. Macanudos and Don Diegos are pretty good. I also have these Bering Imperials, but they were kinda cheap ( I have a $5 limit, gotta spend at least $5 on each one.) I think they were like 4.95
Edit-
I just had one of those Berings, they were better than the Royal Coronation, but not anywhere near a Romeo y Julieta.
I just went to John T's today... got a few of their Crowd Pleaser cigars - they're pipe tobacco cigars, smell and taste great. Also got a few little ones, and this one that couldn't have been any bigger than a cigarette, in length or ring gauge (diameter). It was called Soloz, I think, and had a hint of vanilla.
Those little swishers are ok on occasion but i prefer to smoke a good Trinidad or montecristo #2...wish we could get those in the states...i have to enjoy them while i'm overseas
They're cheap (about $2 for 10), taste great, are smooth, and smell nice. I get compliments all the time about how much people love to smell them. They're pretty mild too... I inhale them, and smoke about 8 a day, and feel better than if I smoked cigarettes.
The smoke you are looking for on that special occasion have to come from Canada because they are Cuban .
Nothing else is close and I recently was given a pack of these small cigars that
were brought back from there and the quality remains the same as the larger ones .
You may want to check the credit card balance before developing a taste for these though as I recently ordered up a Monticristo , one of the best and biggest on the market , from the humidor in a bar and paid $63.00 Can . for one cigar . These usually sell for about $56.00 in a good smoke shop though .
Just have to beware of the cheap Portarico knock offs full of animal hair etc . with cuban names and lables .
I just want to reunderline a simple fact: Kids - don't smoke. PLEASE do not start.
I have never smoked anything in my life, but I will admit, the Swisher's smell pretty good, and the pipe stuff does smell pretty good too. I hate inhaling it because of what is in it...but they do smell nice if I'm around somebody that is smoking that. Much better then Cigarettes! Ugh!
I can condone cigar smoking (flavor, etc), but cigarettes...what's the point except for killing yourself? At least a cigar smoker doesn't have a nasty smell following him around - often it'll be a fair smell.

gotta disagree with this as I got stuck in traffic for an hour and a half behind some old POS car with a smoke cloud behind it. Let's just say it wasn't the car exhaust, but the stogie that the driver was burning that made me wish to god that I had an air recirculation switch in my truck. That was worse than a dead skunk, and I couldn't switch lanes to get away from it. The stench was so great, It could have gagged a maggot! And from a different car, and with my windows rolled up. UGGGH!
The lesson here: Buy expensive cigars, guys! The bigger and cheaper they are, the more foul and repulsive they get (as do the cretins who burn them in public).
I wasn't talking about cheap crap. I meant the more expensive stuff that you do for taste, not just for a fix. I agree with you as that..ugh. just hearing that makes me gag.

Oh Boy, sorry but you got taken by the bartender. Thompson cigars has them from $10-13 a pop.
Psyche:I'm sure you must be refering to a different stogie . These as I said are around $54 in the smoke shops and sell for about $10 US in Cuba which is almost a weeks pay for those poor slaves .
The ones I refered to are the old Al Capone model about 10" long and 1 1/4 "
in diameter . Hand rolled to perfection and one of Cubas most valuable exports .
If I could find them anywhere for Thompson's price you quoted I could bootleg them at $40.00 and still make a good buck . Nothing like a fine cigar and nothing worse than a cheap knock off . But one can smell the difference across the room without even tasting them .
These were selling for $30.00 a pop when I stopped smoking cigaretts in the late 70's and continued to have the odd cigar as a treat sometimes but the price of the good cubans has always made them only a very special treat as I'm no millionaire and probably never will be unless I win a lottery .
I'm thinking the outer tube on a good cuban would probably be worth $10 or $13 in this day and age .
