OBD II Code P0402
I've done everything short of replacing cat assembly and exhaust. I have replaced the EVR, had the EGR checked, had the computer re-programmed, and replaced both downstream O2 sensors.
Any other things I might try?
Does anyone sell an after-market cat system for '96 Explorers' with a 5.0? Does anyone know the approximate cost from Ford? Or is there a way to check if the cats are clogged? Pressure from the exhaust feels about normal (hand over tail pipe) compared to my '98 Expedition.
TIA

Here's what Ford says can set a P0402:
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0402 indicates that self-test has detected EGR flow.
Possible causes:
-- Non-seated EGR valve.
-- Damaged EGR valve.
-- Damaged EGR Valve Position sensor.
-- Plugged or pinched EGR valve vacuum hose.
-- Plugged or iced EGR Vacuum Regulator solenoid vent.
-- EVR circuit shorted to GND.
-- Damaged EGR Vacuum Regulator solenoid.
-- Damaged PCM.
Since you've addressed the EGR/EVR end of the problem, you might want to look at the EVR circuit and the EGR/EVR vacuum hoses.
If they all ck out ok, the PCM is *probably* faulty.
