i'm looking for some forged flat top pistons for a 302w with the cut outs in the top to allow for fitting the cleveland heads
seen some around but doubt if they'll handle the power i want out of it
well if you wander around the "coral" they had one fella with a 5.0 rebuilt for power(think it was 340~400HP? not sure) and the block parted right down the middle on the strip
stock caps,crank,rods/ cast(napa/carquest) pistons rotaing assb was fine looked good infact
the intake/caps(couple of them) held the whole motor together so cast pistons will hold up hyp are better so you can run tighter piston/clyinder(i cant spell)
i have a 347 stroker with about 450 horse. i'm running JE pistons with deep cut valve releifs. we haven't had any problems yet but i'll keep every one posted. i'll get the numbers off the pistons for you.
there definately heavy duty because we have put them through some serious abuse and their still holding up fine. i have a .588 lift cam and haven't had a problem with valve clearence. the pistons are off the shelf JE pistons from what they( JE) tells me. they were pretty expensive but well worth the money. i'll get the part number off one of the pistons tommorow and post it here so you can get a price on them.
You might want to check with Keith Black also, they are making a nice line of forged pistons now to compliment their line of hypertec slugs. I put a set of their new forged ones into my 393 and they are doing good so far.
Hi. Just landed on this site and saw booties request for pistons. Does anyone know what the part number is for these? I am running a 302 winsor with 2v closed chamber cleveland heads and need new pistons for it.
NICE! Hope you can keep it all under control when you get that lot together! Just had a reply from flatlander. Custom forged only. Any chance you still have a part number floating around for yours? And were your pistons for the closed chamber heads? I assume they were, but usa is a long way to send stuff back to when its wrong! Thanks, Paul
