hey i want to put my 289 crank and rods into my late model 302 block - am i gonna have any probs with this, do i have to get it linebored or will new bearings be sweet
I think You're going to have excessive oil leak. since 289 crank is 2 piece rear main seal and late model block is design for 1 piece rear main seal but I believe it can be made to work. Unfortunately I don't remember what machining process is require.
You're better off asking your local engine machinist and go from there.
sorry i meant a short stroke crank - should clarrify myself - in a way i am my local machinist- i do most of the work -heads, and stuff most of the motors i've built i've just stuffed new rings and bearings into the bottom end and honed up the bore but i do now a couple of machinists but trying to avoid spending money on machinists labour doesn't cost
