Cabin filter & coolant question

I have an '03 Lariat dually and was reading the service manual. It says at 15k to replace the cabin air filter (if equipped). Do I have one and if so, where is it? Also, when should the coolant be flushed out? I have a Lance camper and boat, but wouldn't consider my use "severe service". Thanks!

There is no cabin filter. I don't know why that generic owner's manual text is even in the Superduty books.

Spec on the fancy new pee-colored coolant is 100K miles for the first flush, 50K miles thereafter. (And the shortened interval is because they don't trust the quality of the water you'll be using for the flush. I think if you do it with distilled water, you'd be safe doing it every 100K period.) No additives needed at any interval with the new coolant.

Is there a way to test or send out for testing your coolant just we some do with their oil.

I send my oil and transmission fluid to Blackstone, but how can I tell if the additive package and/or if there is dirt and particals in my system?

Thanks,

Jeff

There are test strips for the older style coolant (to make sure your SCA [Supplemental Coolant Additive] levels were correct), but no way to test the new stuff. The whole point is that you don't need to mess with the new stuff. Dump it every 100K miles and that's it - no need to mess with test strips or bottles of SCA. I guess if you're paranoid in general, change it twice that often, and if you're paranoid for some specific reason (i.e. you believe it got contaminated with something), change it just to be safe. Surprisingly it's not expensive stuff, even from Ford.

If I remember correct - Ford corrected the manual in edition #2 to reflect the 100K change interval. I believe the first manuals were in error. There were some posts on it quite some time ago. If you go online to myford at fordvehicles.com and download the manual you'll get the latest and greatest.
