Truck won’t start.
Problem: Went to the store and when I went to leave I turned the key, heard a click then nothing. I tried again and nothing. I also noticed that I lost all power to the truck (dome light is what I noticed). The truck gave no indication of a weak or dying battery.
Observations: When you disconnect the battery and reconnect it, power is restored to the truck.
So far I’ve tried the following:
1. Changed the starter with a remanufactured starter that I has in my garage for the last 4 – 5 years (never used). – No change.
2. Changed the battery with a used one that was good (6mo old) at time of removal – No change.
3. Changed the solenoid with one that worked when I removed it. – No change.
4. Installed new wire from solenoid to starter – No change.
5. Bypassed truck electrical system, hooked directly from the battery to the solenoid to the starter and activated the solenoid with a remote switch – clicking from solenoid.
6. Tried original battery – same result.
I’m charging the second battery up now and I’m going to try it again. I’m at a loss as why I would loose power to the truck like that, and then after I disconnected and reconnected the battery I get it back...
I’ll keep you updated, but I’d appreciate any thoughts that you may have...
Thanks, David
I've yelled at it and made it sit in the corner... Bad ground, bad bad ground...

I tried the charged battery and when that didn't work, I went looking at the negitive cable. It looked brand new at the top, but it was corroded and frayed in the middle where it connects to the frame before it goes to the engine...
Jls1973, I was using a remote starter (just a good sized push button momentery on switch, some wire and some clips) connected directly to the solenoid which bypasses the safety switch... See number 5 in my original post. The mistake that I made was that I eliminated everything on the positive side, but I was still using the negitive side as is...
Thank's for your suggestions,
David
