2001 psd tranny problem

truck has a auto trans and has recently started having a vibration at take off. When towing a 28 ft toybox the torque doesn't seem to be there. Not only that, you get in a situation where you are stuck in 2 wheel or at a base of a hill and it takes alot of acceleration to get it moving. Does anyone have this problem? is it a torque converter or something? The truck only has 30k on it.

I assume you've checked the fluid level and it's good. I would suggest getting one of those Sonnex valve kits and installing it. It raises the line pressure inside the transmission.

Um sorry but I have to disagree with Kwik....

First I don't know what truck you have or what you have done to it - but if you have a longer wheel base rig - the drive shaft carrier bearing will make a vibration like you describe on takeoff. The bearing could be going bad - or if you have lifted the rear of the truck at ALL it can give you a slight vibration on takeoff.
I don't know about the other part of your question - but the sonnax valve and tri-springs do NOT cure problems with a tranny. They are good and help the tranny shift better and quicker (I have them in my truck) - but I don't think that has anything to do with the problems you stated in your post. It sounds as though maybe the T.C. is slipping and not engaging correctly but I am no tranny expert.

Your probably right, but I was picking up on him saying that he has to give a lot of throttle to get going. That's why I thought maybe the torque wasn't getting through the transmission. OTOH, I've fixed two of my own trucks shaking on take off pulling a load by replacing u-joints. But never did they have a power loss.

Its a ext.cab long bed. My concern is even on a hill it won't usually spin until full aceleration is given. I havn't done any hop-ups yet, thinking my first ps would perform different than a 460 would. The vibration is consistant of trying to start out in a higher gear with a manual tranny. I did put a leveling kit w/ 3" inthe back with 35's tucked under.

Spin? As in spin the tires? Spool up the turbo? I thought you were trying to pull a trailer.
And now that you mention a leveling kit, yes, I fully agree with Catman. Check out your driveline. The geometry has been changed by the leveling kit.

On loose soil such as sand or dirt. It was bogging down even before the tires and leveling. Now its alot more noticable.
