Front Axle

I have an 89 F150 2wd with the independent front suspension. My question is will the Dana 44 IFS front axle bolt right in to my existing suspension components, or will I need to replace everything? I am hoping to convert my beast to 4wd.

You will need a whole TTB front off a 4x4, you can use your existing coils.

This may sound like a dumb question, but what is a TTB?

The real name for the IFS front axle is called TTB: twin traction beam. The 4wd one looks like the 2wd with the addition of a gear housing and axle shafts.

Cool. Thanks for clearing that up. The TTB should then just bolt right up to the radius arms and axle brakets, right?

There is an article on how to perform the swap. Also, using the search engine with various keywords would pop up tons of threads on how to perform the swap.
