94 explorer lets out black smoke
I have a 94 explorer which has only 60000 original miles but I have a problem. When I drive at a high rpm for a long time my truck all of a sudden starts to go crazy. The rpm start to go up and down and black smoke starts to come out of my exhaust. If I let the car sit for awile it goes back to normal. I'm planning a trip to Disney with my newborn and I'm afraid to take it. What can this be. Thanks!!!!

The black smoke in the exhaust indicates that there is too much fuel being delivered to the engine . The first step would be to check the static & running fuel pressures . Also check for any stored diagnostic trouble codes .
