The one bolt near the base is the only thing holding it in. Watch out though, because if you are not careful, it's very easy to put it back in wrong, and get the timing off.

You need to mark two things. The distributor housing, and the rotor under the cap.

Before you loosen the bolt at the base, clean the edge of the dist where the cap sits, and put some masking tape on the edge. Make a mark on the masking tape and then measure from the mark to something on the engine that is not going to move(a bracket or something). Measure carefully, and write it down. This will get the housing back in the right spot.

Then look at the tip of the rotor. Eyeball right below it carefully, and put another mark on the masking tape inline right below the tip of the rotor.

When you pull the dist out, you will notice the rotor turns a bit. To make things easier on the re-install, you might want to mark this secondary position of the rotor. Then you can roughly line it up, and when you re-install the dist, the rotor will swing around hopefully to it's old position you started with.

When you are done, and you twist the housing around to match the measurement you made, then the rotor should line up with the mark you made also. Don't move the motor during all this, or it will mess everything up.

I am assuming yours is fuel injection, since you mentioned something about taking the module off the side of the dist. If you have to take it in and out 40 times, keep messing with it till you get the marks lined up. When that's done, look at the wires to the dist module. They will be all grouped together except one, which will be by-itself. Follow this lone wire along it's length, and you should find a plug or a plug with a jumper. Unplugging this wire or jumper takes timing control away from the computer so you can set the timing. Leave the dist a little bit loose, and with a timing light, set the timing according to the emissions sticker under the hood. When you are done, plug the one wire back together.

Yes. And get the one that hooks to the battery. You can hardly see the other one in the daylight.
