Well, Murphy's law has struck again! Almost done replacing all my shocks and front coil springs, when wouldn't you know it, when I started to remove the bottom nut from the shock mount, it broke. Since I dont have any way to heat it to remove it I had to cut off the mount and drill it out. I could not get the mount to come free from the frame, with a easy-out, or a pipe wrench. It is really in there. Has anyone had this problem? 1993 ford ranger 2wd.
Had the same thing happen on my 93. That stud is welded into the radius arm. I drilled it out and filed everything smooth. I replaced the stud with a grade 8 bolt with a jam nut (thin nut half as tall as a reg hex nut) with some loctite. I then used a nylock nut on the outside of the shock. I don't remember if I had to use any washers to space the shock right.
well that explaines why I pulled a muscle in my lower back trying to get that sucker loose. Oh well. I thought I might have to completely drill it out. Thanks you guys.
