92 Explorer stalls, dies
My 92 Explorer has developed a problem.
It's a 92 4 door XLT, 4.0 6 cylinder, AC, Auto transmission
114,000 miles.
When idling or at low speed it will occasionally just die.
When driving at speed it occasionaly jerks. Like the motor stuttered or something. (Maybe a backfire?)
On one occasion while driving on the highway it acted like it had died. I started steering for the side and it just as suddenly started running again. It happened very fast, didn't even have time to put it into neutral.
It _seems_ to happen more often on hot days, but I could be wrong about that.
I have never seen a check engine light. No codes. Runs fine the rest of the time. Gas milage and acceleration normal.
It's been doing this for maybe two months according to my wife who drives it a lot more than I do. I only experienced it recently on a 250 mile round trip.
Any help would be apreciated.
