My son had an accident in my '80 Bronco, smashing up the front end, byut only cosmetically. I have to replace the hood since it looks as though the hood cannot be straightened and, naturally, the worst area is right over the hood latch.
In catalogs, such as Jeff's Bronco Graveyard, I see hoods advertised, both OEM and after market advertised. My question is, is that the compete hood assembly? I know the hinges and other hardware is not included, but in one catalog I looked at it adertised a "hood panel," as if it was only the outer skin and not the inner stiffening structure which looks to be spot welded to the panel.
Can anybody clue me into what to look for when I am looking for a replacement?
The aftermarket hoods from Jeff's are the complete hood, frame structure and all. You can usually buy a used hood fairly cheap, and they are the best fitting hood you can find. I just bought a used hood for my 83 and got the whole thing including hinges for $20 canadian.
I found a hood from an '86 F-150 at a salvage yard as well as a grill and the grill support parts. All for $100. The hood is immaculate, no rust. Of course i have to paint it to match the Bronco, but I would have had to do that anyway.
You got a deal for $20 Canadian! down here in southern Illinois, trucks are king and slavage parts for older Frord Trucks are like gold.
