I should mention that the final design is slightly different than the ones you see in that pic. The final design uses a single slip joint instead of the two you see here. Both work good, but the final design works best...its being run on a buddies rig. I haven't bothered building them for me yet because the older ones work fine.
Great pic, Ivan. How come you didn't clean the mud off of my undercarriage while you were down there?
How come you didn't clean the mud off of my undercarriage while you were down there?
Um, because you never asked? It was actually pretty clean under there but I had to laugh because your truck has stuff leaking in almost as many spots as mine.
thanks so much for the info and pics you guys. i remember looking at other pics of this truck now. when i first saw some of the custom work i thought "dang, why did'nt i think of that???".....lol. anyway since i am so poor i thought of something else while i looked at that pic of your design. i have all the lift i want and dont think i will want more in the future. if i took the block out and dropped the front spring mount as you did on your truck wont that reduce the roll a good bit???
oh yeah! btw i like your design better than oru's. i was just showing my girlfriend and explaining how it all worked and the benifits of that design like ground clearance. i did'nt think about the driveline protection till ivan mentioned it though.
ivan i have not done a rear shackle flip yet. i just learned about it since i got on this site. i still dont fully understand it. i guess i just aint seen a clear enough pic of it to get it in my head right. i was just outside looking at my truck trying to imagine doing that very thing.
It would be a wiser idea to start with a shackle flip than to just drop your front hangar. It'll give enough lift to compensate for that block when you pull it plus it'll give you better articulation. You can buy a kit from Sky Manufacturing or you can do it yourself with a spare set of front hangars. There's tons of threads on this if you need more info.
thanks guys i think this is enough info for me. when i saw the last pic ivan posted i said that looks like a front hanger! then i read the text....lol i will get it done sometime and post some pics so you guys can see your teaching effort pay off. thanks again, Eddie II
I agree, just a shackle flip would be the place to start. Ivan, should you warn the guys about staring at these pics too long? They can inspire strange side effects......
You're getting sleepy . . . very sleepy. How's the tail pipes coming along on that Pro? I actually got slapped for that one but Kath did think it was pretty funny.
My tailpipe has too much back pressure, gotta open her up wide
You know the tale of King Midas . . . how everything he touched turned to gold? Well it seems every thread we touch goes downhill in a hurry. BUT at least we had a little bit of good tech in here this time.
