I read and read the manual, and may have missed it, but try this and tell me I'm not alone.
Turn your vent selector to the right 1 click. It should be on the dash vents (I think). Turn your temp. selector to the coldest end, all the way to the left. Then turn on your fan. After the usual warm-up, does yours blow cold air? And I'm talking about it being 80-90 outside. I thought the A/C only worked on the 2 selections to the left?
Yes, my truck does this, too. I posted this same question about 3 months ago or so. I found out it engages the a/c from the others who answered. I still am not sure why it does it, but it's unmistakable.
Well, according to the shop manual, in the PANEL/FLOOR, FLOOR/DEFROST and DEFROST (Caps are not meant to be shouting) modes the A/C compressor will operate if the outside temp is 43 degree F (6 degree C) or higher. In FLOOR mode, the A/C compressor will not operate.
The logic is to exercise the A/C compressor during the winter months so the seals and internals don't rot and rust away from not being used. I guess Ford figures your not going to being those modes during the warmer months of the year, so your not suppose to notice.
I thought it was to prevent condesation on your windows....
I know if I force it to run without the compressor the humidity from my big yap talking fogs up the windows really fast
