First Tow Result!!

All,
I just towed for the first time this past weekend with my 04 Crew Cab 4X4 Diesel Lariat. It has about 9000 miles on it with only minor problems since new.

I was pulling a 6500lb travel trailer. Loaded it was probably around 8000 lbs. It has a load leveling hitch along with a sway eliminator.

I traveled from Sacramento area (sea level) to over 5300 ft in windy, twisting, steep mountain roads.

THIS TRUCK KICKED BUTT AND WAS AWESOME!!

I have been averaging 15-16 mpg around town. On this trip which was about 200 miles I averaged 10mpg towing.

The tow/haul mode was unbelievable. This transmission works great. I was so impressed they way it downshifted and slowed the truck down with hardly having to use the brakes while going downhill and slowing down.

Thought I would post something positive.

Isn't it great! It's such a great feeling when you talk to other people with different brands of trucks...they honestly don't know what they are missing. Guess that's where the saying "Ignorance is bliss" comes in. Glad to hear that you totally like your truck .

I just traveled 400 miles with my 9,500 lb travel trailer . I too am in love . This truck is flat out awsome towing . I averaged 10.9 mpg . Southern Indiana has a few hills but mostly minor hills . I traveled with two chevy 6.0 gasser . They both were impressed when I only hit 3500 rpms on the steppest hills . They were floored and couldnt maintain speed . Possible diesel owners in the future .

I waited to 1,000 miles on my '04 F350 SRW Supercab 6.0 4x4. Hooked up the boat at about 7,000 lbs last week. Just a short down the road and back, ...to about 65 MPH on a hilly and curvy state highway...and a just a ltttle in town on about a ten mile jaunt total.

I'm being honest in saying that I was so much more than impressed that even the word "awsome" dosn't justify the experience.

The move from my '98 5.4 Expedition...like night and day. This truck is truly meant to tow!

But if plans work out, how bad this baby wants to tow will really be found out next spring, when I hope to slap about 11,000 lbs of fith wheel camper on her and then we head from NC to Alaska and back. (Wouldn't put her through that just yet...I'm going to get her broken in by playing around with something lighter weight this fall and winter.)

No complaints at all so far, not a squeek, rattle or nothing! (One minor complaint...the 160 bucks for a 19,000 pound CVWR weighted tag.)

Can't figure out how to get my boat from saying "Florida for Christmas" every time I walk by it.

(Heads Carolina, tails Alaska?)
