DVD problem with new stereo

DVD problem with new stereo
the dvd player on my 2004 explorer will not work with aftermarket radio.

They said it could be software in factory radio?
Help anyone

Is it a dealer installed DVD system? If so then the FM modulator needs to be wired in correctly to your aftermarket installed radio and antenna, and the power wiring, and the radio tuned to the preset frequency of the DVD unit.

the dvd and radio are from the factory, I hears there is a thing in the radio called a ACP that the dvd and radio talk back and forth, the aftermarket would need something like that, I think???

Yes, if it is a factory installed DVD it communicates over the ACP protocol network to the main audio unit as well as being hard wired to the audio circuits.
