Yea, you may have noticed I welded on two tabs on my roll bar for the KC's. However, I couldn't keep them from being broken up there so my newest set found their way onto my bumper. And no, before anybody asks, the ones on the roll bar were NOT knocked off by an airplane, just a limb )

I saw those, you've got a CB antenna up there now don't you? Need to use the second one to fly the Jolly Rogers flag.

Yup. I just unscrew the antenna as needed. Your right, my truck needs a jolly rogers flag in a bad way!

Weld up some 1" electrical conduit like this:

I have since taken these lights off and put them uder the truck. One in each of the front wheel wells to light up rocks at night, and one in the back pointing back at the rear dif. When you have a guy guiding you up a rock hill at night, it's hard for him to see if your headlights and O/R lights are shining in his face.

Of course when you go thru a mud hole, you'll have to wipe the lights off before climbing any rocks.

That looks like a really nice set up Kevin. Or was, at least.

Pro - you don't count. Having the lights on your bumper is the equivilent of THE REST OF US HAVING LIGHT BARS. ^_^ FYI...I bet a low flying plane really did catch those lights.

or if you want the best of both worlds mount them high on the bumper just above the hood. shoots over tall grass, and wont get wacked off by trees.

i am now thinking of mounting them to the bumper instead of the light bar on top of the truck. do u need anything else to mount lights to a truck besides what comes in a usual light kit( like a wiring harness or light mounts?) i am wondering how well the walmart driving lights work. 20 or 30 dollars isnt much to replace lights if they go bad. i am still considering kc or orther brands too. any info of the walmart brands would be appreciated. thanks

I have a few buddies that run the walmart 6" round lights ($19.99) and have no problems with them and they light up pretty good.

Fine, fine, it was a hanglider but that still doesn't count as a airplane

I really don't see the point of bothering to put those lights on unless they are high quality. Wall marters will work if your on a budget, but KC's aren't too bad $ wise and they work great. There are several out there much better than the KC's but they also cost more. Also, remember to use a relay, it makes a huge difference.

Oh relay fool? Ahhh, I've got to quit drinking. This is a good point. I had the bright idea of installing fog lights in my ricomatic Camry without a relay, all the current running through a little switch in the console. Sucker got so hot it burned my arm and then melted the switch. But besides the danger factor you're also not getting enough current to the lights which means they won't perform to their true ability.

Speaking of which, if any of you guys have the 79 and older trucks be sure to look at the tech article regarding setting up relays for your headlights. Old trucks didn't use them, just had all the power run through the switch. If you go to a relay you'll be blown away at how much brighter your stock lights will be. I experimented with this and hotwired mine . . . night and day difference. I plan to set them up with relays when I install the new grill.

Ain't that the truth. I've got the KB's on a relay but not my headlights yet. Makes a HUGE difference.

i purchased the fog lights from walmart. they look like theyll work fine, but where should i mount them? i dont really want to mount on top of the bumper and i dont see anywhere to put them below that they wont get cracked. i opened up the fog light box, and there was no ground wire for the light switch. do i really need a ground to the switch? any info would really help. thanks.

if you want them bumper height i would look into cutting out holes in the bumper to set the lights in! that way they won't be hanging down or in the way on the top! and it really makes it look clean!

more than likely you will need a ground wire attached somewhere so that it can make a closed circuit with the battery...maybe not to the switch!
