Question Possible Project

Hello, I have some questions about a possible project i might tackle. I have the opportunity to get a 1986 f150 (automatic, 2wd) rolling body with no rust on it. I have a 1978 f250 with a 351m/400 (automatic, 2wd) but unfortunatly the body is pretty much rusted out. I wanted to know if it was possible to transplant the motor, tranny and rear end out of the 1978 into the 1986. Will everything bolt up or will I have to do some modification to frame and body?? Any help would be much appreciated.

P.S. If i post the V.I.N. off of the 1978 could somebody decode it for me??

Thanks

Jon

I don't know about the motor/frame mounts but it shouldn't be to much trouble. 2 things that come to mind. A 1978 f-150 or bigger had no emmisions so if that is a concern that you have to deal with up in Wisconsin you would have a hard time passing emmisions for a 1986. The second being if the 86 had a 5.0L with fuel injection you will have to regulate the fuel pressure for the carb. My $.02
