I have an ’86 F250 with a 351 engine, no air. My problem is that I have a squealing pulley and have been unable to find a replacement pulley for the one I suspect is producing the noise. (I have replaced the belt.) After visiting just about every auto parts store in town and ordering (and returning) many pulleys, I am beginning to suspect that the pulley that is installed is not the right pulley. The 351 has two belts; the pulley I’m trying to replace is on the front most belt driving the air pumps and water pump(?). I think it is the idler pulley. The pulley installed on my truck is about 3 inches OD, with a ½ inch bolt hole, and is about 1.25 inches wide. It is not mounted on a bracket, but is bolted directly to the engine. My question is, is this the correct pulley. If not, can you describe the correct one and when it can be ordered?
Go to a junk yard whereyou are an do a search for the same make an model an engine you have and compare the difference...I would bet its the wrong pully and bracket...

dude- can you take a picture of your air pumps & pulleys? I need to put my AIR system back together (thanks to the prev owner).
I think you will have to order that from ford. I am in the same dilemma. I am assuming it is a serpentine type pulley, and not a v-belt pulley?
Yes, the pulley is associated with the serpentine belt, however the pulley currently installed has a smooth surface, and the back of the belt passes over the pulley. I’ve been told by a ford dealer that the “correct” pulley is no longer a dealer product, and as I noted, I’ve had no luck finding the pulley through the after market. I’ve been to several junk yards junk yards in the area (but not all), also with no luck. I can take pictures of the air pumps & pulleys and post them on a web site Friday evening or Saturday morning. I’ll let you know when I get them ready.
