I have a '94 Explorer with power windows and seats (4door model). 2 days ago, while I was driving home from work, I decided to lower my driver side windows. I lowered it all the way down. Once I got into my driveway, I push the window switch to raise the window but it does not raise the window up at all. First thing I checked was to make sure the windows "Lock" button is not engaged. I checked all other windows and they are functioning fine. I was thinking that there may be a bad fuse for the window but if it was a bad fuse, would'nt all windows not work also? Could this be just the switch for the driver window? I would really appreciate any assistance anyone may have or anyone have had this problem previously. If someone has experience with this same problem, you can reply here or send me an e-mail at tonyhan@juno.com
Well, I haven't experienced this with the power windows on my Fords (Ranger and Aerostar), but I would check the easiest things first (those that require the least disassembly). Remove the switch and remove the electrical connector that goes to the switch. Then, check for voltage to make sure you're getting power to the switch. Make sure the ignition switch is in the proper position when you do this. Next, check for continuity across the switch when you push it in the direction to make the window move. If there's no continuity, then the switch is bad. If the switch is good and you have power, then look elsewhere for the problem.
i had that problem and i took the switch off and and just cleaned and played with the connections and it worked and has worked now for 10 months like this so give it a whirl and see what happens
