2001 sporttrac problems
1) When driving if you hit a water puddle with the right front the water totally blinds the driver as it comes up over the wheel well and onto the windshield. I was blinded bad enough mine ended up under a trailer truck. A few thousand dollars later and I still can't get anyone at Ford to address this. I think this is a very bad engineering or design flaw which Ford doesn't want to admit to. This was a vehicale which they needed to launch fast or loose many sells to the dodge dakota quad cab.
2) On damp or wet days my radio lights flicker bright and dim. I think it's a bad ground but to try and find it is another thing.
3) Unbearable wind noise mainly due to poor fits on the fender to door. My front doors are so-far outboard of the fender and "A" pillar it's almost unbelieveable that the quality department allowed it to be shipped.
4) fuel door which is nonadjustable rubbing the bedside when opening it.
My dealer has tried to fix all these problems as well as they can but I have still got the same problems
However, this truck has been a pain in the rump! It has been in the shop for a total of 61 days since i bought it a year ago(thats two months) Do you have squeking seats? I have the older style single peice seat(without the detached head rest). It squaeks like a dead duck! I have had it in the shop over 9 times! Never been fixed. I am trying to get ford to put in two of the newer style seats but will not. They stopped production on my style seat...probably becuase they had a problem! So my next step is to file suit and I will buy the new style seats. I have tried everything with ford.......called the customer service center 100 billion times, tried to get a zone rep or regional manager.....but now I will sue if they dont come through!
If any one else has this problem please contact me at jrfilas(No Email Addresses In Posts!)
Also, my vinyl floor is ripping around the floor mat hooks, the paint on my door pull handles are peeling, paint on my hood is cracking all over, and I get a strong vibration after letting off the gas at about 60mph.
If you are reading this and about to go buy a sport trac.....DONT!!!!!!!! save the time and agony of living at the dealership! I think I have spent more time in a rental than my own truck which i payed alot of money for....and they excpect me to drive a ford escort!!!!!
