All the under dash stuff including the spring that will crush your fingers right off if you goof up installing it. The through the dash rod, and what is called a "Z bar". The z bar is a round tube with arm on each end. One arm is connected to the clutch rod at the top, the other to the throw out arm on the bell housing via another rod. The z bar mounts to a bracket on top of the front subframe and to a ball mount on the side of the bell housing. It will also interfer with your exhaust if you're unlucky.

You might have to search for a juice clutch set up. No idea where to send you for that. Maybe the Ultrastang site.

. As I recall, you have a non-factory motor, right? 351M or C in a 67 Mustang? You may have to mix and match parts from a '67 and whatever the engine came out of.

Question 351 cleveland yes

i do have a cleveland (1971 i believe), in a 67 fastback, and 3 inch exaust that supercomp hookers are matched to. im thinking because you said it might interfere with my exaust, it probably will because of what i have. (those hookers have been nothing but trouble to me)
anyway, so with matching parts together, i thought the clutch had nothing to do with the engine? (only because the clutch is in the tranny and not the block) im getting a toploader, so i would hope it would work out fine with that. for the pedal and other stuff that you were talking about like that spring that i am now scared of lol, would i be able to steal the stuff i need out of a 68 coupe that was a manual? thanks for the info...keep it comin

oh yeah...whats a juice setup?

Juice clutch = Hydraulic clutch. Works like the brakes. Master cylinder activated by clutch pedal, fluid pushes the slave cylinder which activates the throwout arm.

If you can get parts off a '68, you may be halfway there.

The engine gets involved in the clutch linkage on a Mustang because the z bar rests on the top of the subframe rail on the left, and on the left edge of the bell houseing on it's (the z bar's) right. The bell has a ball-ended bolt that the z bar fits over. When you get the stuff out of the '68, look for it.

All this z bar stuff is what gets in the way of the exhaust.....

You should be able to eyeball it to see if the '68 parts will fit and if your bell has the proper fitting. If it won't fit and there is no fitting I would:

A) reconsider the manual trans

B) start researching a hydraulic clutch for your car. I have no idea where to send you for that other than internet searchs. I have no experience installing such a unit, although someone else here might.

Keep in mind you are on a Ford Truck site and many of the trucks discussed here already have hydraulic clutches. (hydraulics are not considered much of a high performance set up, by the way) It is unlikely a Ford truck set up would easily adapt to a Mustang.

Note also I am recounting my experience with a '65. Certain things may be different on a 67-68, as those cars were designed to take a big block.

Before you pull the '68 parts, take pictures or draw diagrams.

Also, eyeball your buddy's '67 that has a clutch. Compare how stuff fits and where it goes compared to the space available on your car.
