"To clarify my comment a bit, a truck that is not being used for its designed purpose is not "useless", it is pointless."
So what exactly is an integra designed for? To race? NO! If it was it wouldn't jave a back seat, a trunk, or even a passenger seat. It is designed to "haul" people. By your reasoning, driving in a car without a load of people is "pointless" thats what it is designed for and any other use is just "stupid". YOu take your family with you to work everyday? Nope. You should have got a motorcycle. That way you aren't driving a "pointless" vehicle.
The point is, anyone can modify their vehicle however they want and for any purpose they want. If i want to modify my ranger to murder integras i can do it. That is its "designed" purpose is to beat integras. So its not pointless.
But arguing ist going to solve anything, just make us all mad. So let's agree to disagree.
when it comes to my Integra I have never, nor will I ever loose to a truck. And incase you are wondering, no, I am not 17 I am in my mid-30s.
Hmm... sounds like a fine candidate to be introduced to Big Red. How about a supercharged 8 (5.4L) cylinder introduction? Never been beat by a truck... hmm... you'll see.
I hate to throw fuel on the fire, but I just checked the Honda Civic website and they only claim to make 115-127 hp. and stock curb weight is 2500 lbs, give or take about 60. However, the Ford site claims that the Ranger pickup line is capable of making 143-207 hp at a much lower RPM. Furthermore, the fuel economy (which is only in existence for general comparison purposes and *rarely* does one get said numbers, especially if said individual drives it like he stole it) for a 4 banger ranger is 24/29. The base model Honda Civic claims 32/38.
Not too much fuel. Those are the specs for the basic model 2004 Civics with the SOHC 1.6L D16Y engines. The same year Civic Si is a DOHC 2.0L K20A engine is 160hp. Now I am not a Civic lover but the vast majority of the kids you see running around in the late 80's-late 90's Honda are all sporting DOHC 1.6L B16A1 engines or B18C1/5 engines. You see alot of the older Civic hachbacks because some were as light as 1800lbs. The pre 02' engines were less restrictive and better power. These are the most popular engines. Best part is you can put just about any B-series Honda engine in a pre 02' Civic or Integra. Some came stock with these engines, others just get swapped.
B16A1 or 2 = 160-170hp (the imported JDM engines from the same year have more power)
B16B = 185hp
B17A1 = 160hp
B18C = 180hp-205hp (different years)
B18C1 = 170hp
B18C5 = 195hp
As for some of those challenges, I'll see you guys out there.

Seems like the trucks can keep up with the cars at bristol. I mean 5 mph. Theese are records. that just means that since nextel cup is the premier "league", they have better drivers. Nuf said.

Come on man, get real here. I have walked on 5.0 Stangs, ran with C5's, and you're going to sit here and tell me that you're gonna run my hide? Get real. I practially have your displacement in 2 cylinders. Sure, the truck weighs alot more... but I gotta tell you, I have driven Stangs, AC Cobras, Z28's, TA's, Preludes, one Z06, and an Integra all on the local road track and the L. fairs out pretty well, and in some cases, handles a bit better. Plus I can jump out of the turns and mash the throttle and.... hmm... where'd that other guy go??? Not saying the L. would kill the Integra, just saying that even on a road track, Big Red will be (if not in front of the Integra) taking paint off the rear bumper. Then, put it in a strait line, and you think I'll loose? I really don't think you've ever met a L. at the local Drag strip man, cause' she'll surprise you (sure surprised alot of C5's atleast).
Also, the truck series and car series are pretty darn close in all aspects, really quite amazing. I for one would love to see them race one together.

Sorry Ken.

I like the idea of performance truck. i'm in love witht he lightning, you can run with a corvette then haul your boat to the lake. Right now i have a 95 rainjar with 4.0v6 and manual. I done a few things to the motor but on the outside she looks bone stock and i love er. I can run circles around about all the little go carts around here but there have been a few that make me go ahead and shift into overdrive with my tail between my legs. Whats real funny is those that have those huge wings in the rear. you know if they caught the amout of air they were supposed to they would rip those trunk lids right off. anyways...I say sports trucks are fine as long as you can back up the look and sound with the performance.

Sorry Ken.
I am being very real. Displacement is not the answer to everything, driver's skill level is in most ways more important. Based on you coments, you would be surprised to know that a good freind of mine used to have a "healthy" Stang, and we would run eachother all the time. Yes he had it off the jump, but that only lasts for 1st and part of 2nd. The gears in these cars can walk'em down. Corners, are you kidding me, I can hold my speed into, through and out of the corner, something I can't do in my TransAm. Being the owner of a truck and many years in the seat of a 70's muscle car I will have to remind you of something called fish-tailing in the corners. The hardest my buddy and I ever ran, he jumped out, I passed around 70, he passed around 120, and I passed him back at 145 we both backed down after that.
No matter what I say most will still be on the "imports stink" bandwagon. How about not referring to people who own Civics, Integras, and other imports as "ricers", since it would be the same as reffering to people with trucks as "rednecks". Not trying to tick everyone off, just realize that many of those same cars you look down on can/will surprise you.
As for the NASCAR races, I don't think that would be such a good idea. NASCAR would turn the stands into a civil war zone. It is bad enough when you have the groups of fans "your driver bumped my driver".
