I'm posting this for a buddy, anyone got a quick answer?
Have any of you guys raised your front spring hangers
on the rear end of your truck? I ground off the front
spring hangers on the rear end and am moving them up
on the side of the frame rails. I've seen this done
but do not know what size bolts to use to bolt back on
to frame. the rivets were about a 1/4 inch in size. I
think I'm going to drill out to 7/16. 3/8 didn't seem
big enough. Is there a web site for help if no one
has done this before?
More important than the size of the bolts is the hardness. Any bolts holding suspension parts should be grade 8 bolts. I would think 7/16 grade 8 bolts should do the job.
Yes I raised both the front and rear one inch, used grade 8 7/16 bolts. I cut the flange off of the rear hangers and flipped the front hangers left to right. I am using reversed eye springs thats why I flipped the front side to side.
