Daytime running lights - howto?
What I'd like is for the front headlamps only to come on while the key is in the on position. When I pull the headlight switch, the parking lights and tail lights should come on.
Anyone done this before? My truck is an '89 F-150.
I don't have the 89 wiring diagram, but what you need to do is identify the low-beam headlight relay, then find the wire that applies power to the relay when the headlight switch is pulled out. Thats the wire you cut. Put a wire nut on the half of the wire that goes to the headlight switch to prevent it from shorting, and connect othe half of the wire that feeds the relay, to +12V ACC.
Make sure you snip the wire the feeds the coil of the relay, not the main power feed to the actual headlights.
