My 89 F150 seems like it might not have as much power as it should, especially pulling my 20' camper. I suspected the timing. The sticker says to disconnect the in line spout connector. I didnt know the location of that so put a light on it anyway. the big notch seems about 180 deg. off another small indentation also way off.
Can someone please tell me where the spout connection is, is it the plug on the distributor? Does it make that much difference? I would appreciate any help.
Thanks.
The plug should be right next to the distributor, and yes it makes a difference. Make sure that it is disconnected before adjusting the timing or you wont adjust correctly. The computer advances and retards timing based on certain conditions and with the connector disconnected it wont so you can time it correctly. Wish i had a picture of the location, but like i said it should be a single wire connector on the distributor. Good Luck
Thanks Guys, I think I found it. There is two yellow wires coming out of the back of the plug going into the distributor, with a female plug on the end and a grey cap like thing plugged into it. I thought it was just a dust cap but it has connector prongs inside. Must be a "jumper" like pfogle said.
Thanks again, now I just have to find the time to borrow the neighbors timing light and find that scribe line.
