I have a couple of questions. The truck currently has a dual tank bed but only has a rear tank. I am assuming that the bed has been replaced since the build sheet does not list dual tanks. If you look at my gallery though the bed and cab pint jobes both look original and match (aged the same). My question is should I add a second tank or close the hole? also what is the /C in the tire size? finally is the "vinyl insert lower bodyside moldin" the molding that runs in the groove down the fender between the side marker lights? the only reason I ask this is I don't consider that location to be "lower" on the body?
Personally, I would add the extra tank.
The C is the load range of the tire. It has a higher load rating than a standard passenger car tire.
I believe that the lower molding went down the rocker panel between the wheelwells.
It appears that your truck has no molding at all. If it had the molding between the marker lights, it should have either the metal studs sticking out or evidence of them being filled in.
Nice looking truck.
Thanks. The cab and fenders do have some of the studs. The bed has none. I have the molding and plan on adding it back. Thanks for the compliment. I think it is a pretty good looking truck also. I only paid $1000 for it. It has the usual rust on the bed but not enough that it needs to be replaced instead of repaired. the cab and front end are solid without rust. The driver side door has been replaced and the passenger door has a small rust through on the lower rear corner. The engine has been replaced but it is still either a 351 or 400 with a edelbrock cam and intake and a holley 600cfm 4bbl. Right now the exhaust runs where the second tank would go. I just bought the truck recently and am still in planning stages for what I want to do to it. I bought it to pull what we in the south call a camper (i think elswhere it is a travel trailer). I will do a mechanical overhaul before I do any thing else. if this is a case of too much information, I'm sorry, but this is my first truck and I'm still pretty excited about the possibilities.
The fact that there are studs on the cab and none on the bed may indicate that the bed has been replaced. Duals make it difficult to add the second tank but it can be done if both pipes are run down the same side.
I'm pretty sure the bed has been replaced but you would never know it by the paint. I will probably leave the second door and consider the second tank when if/when I get the exhaust redone. thanks also some may think it crazy but I am going to replace the 33X12.5 tires with 30 X 9.5 street tires on some aluminum bronco rims. I found a set with new tires for $275. the 33's are off-road and pretty worn.
Install headers. Then have a good muffler shop, using 2 1/2" pipe, run the left side over to the right, both sides into a dual inlet, single 3" outlet Flowmaster muffler and a single 3" out the right rear. Looks stock but provides good performance improvement.
Right now it has dual pipes that exit behind the rear tires. I think I may leave it that way so I am not blowing exhaust all over my camper when I am pulling it. I won't be doing anything immediately. My funds are limited and i have a tune up to do and tires to replace. I probably will leave the dual hole bed and eventually add the seoncd tank and move the exhaust. That will give me a longer range when pulling.
