Hey guys, I am flushing m,y coolant system---question is: Is it safe to add the fresh water into the motor between flushes while its still hot? It says run for 5 min, with heater on, drain, fill, run and drain again---I was wondering if the cool water added to hot motor could crack something......pleez help
ps--how do u bleed the air from these 7.3 motors after flushing?

If you are starting with a cold engine it won't heat up enough in five minutes to hurt anything. Pulling in off the freeway and draining it while it's 200 degrees might not be a good idea.
Once you get it all buttoned back up you can burp the pump with the heater hose on top of the pump. You will still have to watch it for a few days, as the air trapped down in it makes it's way to the degas bottle the level will drop some.
How much DCA do you add when doing complete drain & flush? Is 1 pint enough? Also I have read about people checking their PH levels and some other level(can't remember that one) Do I need to being checking these items? Or is temp freeze/boil enough?
Have a quick question not trying to sound dumb but why do you need to monitor the PH in the coolant? What is DCA?, is it an additive, Is it just diesels that need this much attention or does this apply to gas engines also. I have a coolant filter on my truck and change the coolant every so many thousands of miles as required is ther more I should be doing?
