Hydro brake booster?

I just changed mine. It was easy.
Unfortunatly, that wasnt the problem.
I lost my brakes drivin thru Houston. Not fun. They wopuld work as long as I pushed em once. The second push would be on a hard pedal. No brakes until the vacuum built back up. Thats when I thought my booster was bad. My vacuum pump will pull a vacuum, but not very strong. The pump, which is belt driven is makin an awful racket. I think it is bad, but dont know for sure.
After I changed the booster, I have nuthin but a hard pedal. Brakes no worky!
The process of elimination is gettin expensive.
Any suggestions?

I have a similiar problem. I have a 1998 E-350 box truck,PSD, that I use for my race rig and tow a 24' enclosed trailer with the race car and motorcycle in. When I'm moving the rig around parking at the track or getting it back in the driveway the brake light on the dash comes on and I get a hard pedal. If I put it in park and rev it up the light goes out. I was thinking while moving around at about idle it wasn't making enough vacuum for the brakes, but no one I've talked to with a PSD has had the same problem.
Any help?

I had the same problem on my 97 PSD. The vacuum pump turned out to be bad, it would have a little bit of puressure going to the booster, apparently not enough. Brakes would work for the 1st pump and then the pedal would get hard after the 2-3rd pump. The new pump was $120. It takes about 15 min to remove, make sure you have the parts house swap the pulley & bolts for you. The bolts are impossible to remove with the pulley attached to the pump. Good Luck.

My brakes are still Ok, but there is power steering fluid leaking out the booster. My local NAPA guys said there are a lot of them failing the internal seals. Took quite a while to get.
Just got tired of adding fluid. Thought it would be easy, but never hurts to check.
thanks for the info, guys.
