ok i have a 72 f250 4x4 highboy (67-72's rule) my black dash cover was all cracked so i removed it to find a pretty cool looking steel dash below. the defroster grates came out of the foam and screwed right in the factory holes. was this an option in some years it looks like it. thanks

I'm not sure If It was an option. I might have to take off my cracked dash pad
and have a look, that might look pretty good painted the same color as the truck.
http://community.webshots.com/user/smcoffma couldnt get any shots, raining too hard. check this guys out page 2 no gauge cluster but you get the idea. ill post mine asap. looks awesome i think!! you will need to remove the defrost grates from the foam, wire brush and paint and screw in, i used door panal screws , they were the right size

I removed my cracked dashpad years ago to find shiny paint, and yes, the defrost vent grates screwed right to the dash. Some time back there was a group dashpad purchase that happened here. Keep your eyes open and it may happen again. I'd watch the site announcements forum.

Yeah- that's my dash and I've been contemplating putting the dashpad back in or not---the main benefit to it was offering a "softer" surface to smash your head into in the event of an accident--although adding new 3-point seatbelts would help with overall safety..
i think it has that 50s-60s look, kinda hotrody. definetly want sholder belts. but i can think of a lot better things to spend a couple hundred dollars on. i look at it as an upgrade. thanks for the info bb.
https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...&albumid=11513 after seeing the f600 dash, i ran over to the boneyard and pulled the gauge cluster out of one, $40, some paint, and 30 min. wiring and man does it look nice. i would recomend to anyone looking for something differant. you do need the plug cut out of the doner.
yeah i am going up to dougs trucks here on saturday and go thru the boneyard and see if i can find one of those gauge clusters, although i have white face gauges in my truck now. i bought the conversion kit last year, i hate to lose those. they are nice and bright
