the dash used to be bare and then the pad was mandated by the federal guys for safety reasons. drilling some holes and adding a thin pad was a cheap way to satisfy the mandate. doesnt seem so cheap these days.
Yes! I was going to ask if anybody had used one of those dash covers LMC and others sell for around $150. I never even thought you could just chuck it and paint the steel dash. That's perfect. It makes my budget work out and is keeping with my unofficial "Kustom" theme of "Kustom" by being a cheap and ingenious way to modify something.
Nikirk, Don't worry about it. I outbid you, but am willing to sell it to you! . Just kidding about outbidding you. I mean it about not worrying about it. It was $36, but how much was shipping? I know a bone yard with a bunch of those, but the guy wants $50 for them. I don't want one that bad. They are cool looking though.
I guess that's what an auction's about; choosing what you think is a fair price and not going higher. I got outbid on the horn button too.
The cool thing about that guage cluster is it would solve several problems for me: first, I've got low oil pressure at idle but the idiot light isn't telling me how low. Second, I want to add a tach without it looking like I added a tach, you know. A tach would fit in one of the extra holes real well.
So if you have one laying around and want to sell it, get in touch. Thanks!
yeah over the summer i saw one go for 42 bucks, nice one to with gauges, the guy who ought it posted it a couple weeks later, i knew it was the same one and it went for almost 2oo. i would love to have one but then what would i do with my one now with white faced gauges ?
