I got an awesome deal on a set of torches last week on Ebay.
Got a brand new set that was missing the acetylene regulator for $29!
I went to an auction and got a regulator for $5 Shipping was $12, so I'm set up with a brand new set for under $50 Tried them out this weekend and they work great. Gotta love it when you get a deal!
A similar set at Canadian Tire sells for $345 with taxes.
I used to use only Victor and my main torch handle still is a Victor, but over the years I have bought several imported tips and accessories on ebay/harbor freight/northern tool etc,.
I'm going on 3 years with a set of "cheap imported junk" single stage regulators (they are actually easier to read then the real deal Victor regulators).
Some of the imported stuff has a different color brass, maybe a little more copper in it (probably a cheaper alloy) but they work just as good.
cutting/welding with gas is a dangerous activity and I started out with the "buy the best don't cut corners" mentality, I still do, but refuse to spend money on a brand name when it isn't really a better performing product.

I got mine at a local fle market. They were 10 bucks. I went to a tractor place and got tanks, put it all together, and fired them up. I melted my tip right off, I guess i was running them a little too hot. Anyway it was a huge tip, it was made for 4 inch metal. I haven't ordered my new tip yet but it will be soon(before winter) I need to cuz up a broken toyota frame.
