We are unfortunate to have IM testing for all post 1967 vehicles...
I am getting a '79 F250 4x4 Crew Cab with a 460 swapped in at some point.
I want to get this thing IM'd so I need to get all the equipment that it should have. Any ideas on what I need?
This would be federal emissions, not California or something like that.
I don't have a config number since it is not stock.
I do know it has an auto and 4.10 gears.
The best thing to do is to find out what the requirements are before you get tested. Find out if its okay to put a different engine in your truck. I was told in Virginia its okay (for the safety inspection) but that you still have to have all of the emissions stuff (even though I'm exempt) for that engine of that engine year. The bigger challenge for emissions isn't finding out what you need but find the parts that you need. For now, I'm registered as an antique so I can skirt by all of these problems....but then this isn't a daily driver so I can get away with that.
